COLUMBIA — The University of Missouri System Board of Curators announced Friday that recently-appointed UM President Gary Forsee’s contract will be extended from three years to five years.
This extension will defer the performance-based part of his salary for a full five-year term before payment would occur.
Forsee’s new contract is a reflection of the commitment he wants to make to the UM system, said Board of Curators Chair Cheryl Walker.
“The extension in term is consistent with Mr. Forsee’s desire to make a long-term commitment to the University of Missouri,” Walker said.
Also approved Friday were Forsee’s performance objectives for his first year as president.
Included in his objectives were the development of a strategic plan for the system with an emphasis on health care and the confirmation of key measures of accountability for the university, which will receive broad disclosure.
“The Board of Curators is pleased that Mr. Forsee will lead our university well into the next decade,” Walker said.
