COLUMBIA — This Friday Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Birds” will be shown on the grassy area west of Gordon Shelter as part of the U.S. Cellular Movies Around Missouri Stephens Lake Outdoor Cinema Series.

There will also be pre-show entertainment provided by John D’Agostino and the Fried Crawdaddies starting at 8 p.m.

Moviegoers can park in the Old 63 or Broadway lots at the park.

Guests are encouraged to bring a low lawn chair or blanket to sit on.

Karen Ramey, recreation supervisor for Columbia Parks and Recreation, said they are working on getting food and drinks at the event, but for now, guests are allowed to bring their own.

The Cinema Series, which used to take place in Flat Branch Park, shows movies on the second Friday of the month from May to September. “Some Like it Hot” will be shown in July and “The Spiderwick Chronicles” will be shown in August.

This event is sponsored by Columbia Parks and Recreation, the Columbia Daily Tribune and the Columbia Convention and Visitors Bureau.
