COLUMBIA — A man was arrested Wednesday evening after a single-car accident on Rock Quarry Road.

Benjamin Robb, 24, was arrested on suspicion of felony driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident, operating a motor vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner and failure to show proof of insurance, Columbia Police Sgt. Chris Kelley said.

As of 8:55 p.m., Robb was being held at the Columbia Police Department awaiting transfer to the Boone County Jail, Kelley said.

Around 7 p.m., Columbia police and fire responded to the accident on the narrow road near Hinkson Creek after a copper Honda Accord crashed and became wedged between two trees, Kelley said. The man was found walking along Rock Quarry and Rolling Rock roads after the accident. An officer approached the man because he matched the description of the driver provided by a witness.

The man said he was not ejected from the car. Witnesses said the man was walking from the scene on his own, Kelley said.

Kelley said there were no serious injuries and the man refused medical treatment.
