COLUMBIA — Columbia police are investigating an early morning accident at the intersection of Providence Road and Worley Street that resulted in four injuries.

At 1:40 a.m., officers were dispatched to the scene and determined that Columbia resident Kristi C. Cassaday, 20, ran a flashing red light while driving east on Worley Street and struck the passenger side of another car heading north on Providence Road, a Columbia Police Department news release said.

Cassaday and the passenger in her car, Dineshkrishnan Dass Krishnan, 22, also of Columbia, were both taken to the hospital and admitted for their injuries.

The driver of the second car, Calvin J. Mickens, 21, of Fayette, was not injured. The passengers in his car, Mack H. Randall, 20, and Kelvin J. Bowser, 20, both of Fayette, sustained minor injuries that did not require admittance to the hospital.

Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene because of extensive damage. At the time of the accident, Cassaday is believed to have been under the influence, the release said.
