PrintCOLUMBIA — The fifth and final suspect in the Nathaniel Bentley homicide turned himself in to police Sunday afternoon, a Columbia Police Department news release said.
Quiliam E. Jacobs, 17, faces charges of second-degree murder, first-degree robbery and armed criminal action. The release said his bond has been set at $500,000.
A warrant had been issued for Jacobs’ arrest in connection with the June 10 slaying of 22-year-old Nathaniel Bentley, who was fatally shot in the head during a robbery at his home on Pimlico Drive.
Three of the suspects, Michael Jaco, 17; Denzell L. Smith, 17; and Malcolm A. Washington, 26, were arrested June 11. The fourth suspect, Damon A. Williams, 23, was taken into custody June 12. All of the men face charges of second-degree murder, first-degree robbery and armed criminal action. As of Sunday afternoon, all five of the suspects were still in custody at Boone County Jail.
Williams, who police said pulled the trigger in the homicide, was arrested after an hourlong standoff with police at the Eastwood Motel on Business Loop 70 East. His bond set at $1 million while the other four suspects’ bonds are either $500,000 or $500,500.
The case moved quickly after police used GPS tracking to locate a phone taken during the invasion to an area near Route WW and Rolling Hills Road. In the area, police found a small semi-automatic weapon.
Earlier, police said they believed the gun had been stolen during another home invasion involving one of the suspects in the Bentley shooting.
Smith, 17, also made incriminating statements regarding other suspects during several hours of interviewing.
