Two areas of Katy Trail closed

COLUMBIA — The Katy Trail is closed because of flooding between Hart’s Creek, which is located in Hartsburg, and Wilton and between west Rocheport and New Franklin.

These are the only sections of the trail that are closed, said Sue Holst, a spokeswoman for the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. Although the water covers only a small portion of the path, the trail is closed from trailhead to trailhead to allow people an opportunity to find alternate paths, Holst said.

High waters from the Missouri River have run over the trail, making it impassable for bikers and other trail users.
