COLUMBIA — The Central Methodist University acting group, The Eyrie Actors, will perform “Lobby Hero,” a comedy-drama play, on Sunday and Monday at the Ragtag Cinema to raise money for a kidney transplant for 22-year-old MU student, Alexander Vallar..
The fundraising project was established by Mark Kelty, an assistant professor and director of theater arts at Central Methodist. Kelty’s daughter attended Hickman High School with Vallar and Kelty also knew Vallar’s mother, Ella Vallar, through her involvement in community projects and theater-related events. Kelty will be directing the play with help from Central Methodist students Amy Prater, the play’s assistant director, and Michael Temple, the play’s technical director.
“Lobby Hero” is about a luckless, young security guard drawn into a local murder investigation. The Eyrie Actors is a Central Methodist acting troupe consisting of three students, Clint Verner, Darrell Bailey and Megan Moore and a recent Central Methodist alumnus Clay Hardesty.
Proceeds from the show will go to the Alex Vallar Fund at Commerce Bank in Columbia. Donations may be sent to Commerce Bank, Attn: Valerie Shaw, P.O. Box 1677, Columbia, MO 65205, or call 660-886-5333.
