Letter: Missouri Press Association directors support continuation of Missourian's print version

The Missouri Press Association Board of Directors approved the following Resolution at its meeting June 11 at Lake Ozark, Mo., and wishes to share it with University of Missouri administrators and faculty and members of the Missourian Publishing Association Board of Directors:

Resolution

We, the members of the Missouri Press Association Board of Directors, representing the key organization involved in the founding of the University of Missouri School of Journalism in the years leading up to 1908, do hereby resolve,

That the Missouri Press Association Board of Directors vigorously supports the continuation of The Columbia Missourian as a printed newspaper, and further,

The Missouri Press Association Board of Directors respectfully urges the School of Journalism’s administration and faculty, along with the University of Missouri’s administration, to investigate thoroughly and to implement all options with the intent to continue the printed version of The Columbia Missourian for the purpose of training future newspaper journalists as has been done for the past 99 years.

In addition, the Missouri Press Association Board of Directors seeks to schedule a meeting in September during the School’s centennial celebration to discuss this issue with members of the Missourian Publishing Association.
