St. Louis mosquitoes test positive for West Nile Virus

ST. LOUIS — Health officials have discovered mosquitoes that test positive for West Nile Virus throughout St. Louis County.

The cases are the first to be reported this year in St. Louis County, which is home to more than 900,000 people.

Mosquitoes testing positive for the virus were found in cities including Jennings in the north, Clayton in central St. Louis County andChesterfield in the west.

No human infections have been reported this year.

The St. Louis County Department of Health recommends residents wear bug repellent to avoid mosquito bites and reduce areas with standing water where mosquitoes breed.
