NEOSHO, Mo. — A Missouri hatchery is donating 10,000 rainbow trout to help replace fish lost from Iowa hatcheries hit by flooding.

Neosho National Fish Hatchery Manager David Hendrix said Wednesday that each fish will be up to 4 inches long and about 4 months old. The donated trout constitute the Neosho hatchery’s surplus of that size rainbow trout for this year.

The Missouri-hatched trout are going to Iowa’s Manchester hatchery, one of two affected by Iowa flooding. Officials said Iowa lost 150,000 fingerlings and 20,000 catchable trout.

Hatcheries in several other states are also helping Iowa rebuild its stock.
