ST. LOUIS — The Federal Emergency Management Agency is opening two disaster recovery centers in eastern Missouri to help those affected by recent Mississippi River flooding.

The centers are at the Clarksville Visitors Center and the Winfield-Foley Fire Station No. 3. FEMA spokesman Don Bolger says flood victims are encouraged to register for disaster assistance even if they have insurance.

Once they register, their property will be inspected after waters recede.

Bolger says people can start cleaning up if they’re able, but should take photos of damage and save receipts.

Flood victims may register online at fema.gov or by telephone at 800-621-FEMA (3362).
