PrintWOBURN, Mass. —— The jury considering the murder case of a former Missouri radio reporter accused of poisoning his wife has ended its first day of deliberations.
Prosecutors say James Keown was deeply in debt and killed his 31-year-old wife, Julie, in September 2004 to obtain her $250,000 life insurance policy. She died from of a lethal dose of a chemical found in antifreeze.
The defense says Julie Keown may have committed suicide or accidentally ingested the chemical.
The jury had one question as it worked Tuesday, but it was not raised in open court and the content was not disclosed.
The jury will resume deliberations Wednesday morning at Middlesex Superior Court.
