CLAYTON — A former suburban St. Louis special education teacher will face between two and 10 years in prison after being convicted of sexual misconduct with students.

Cathy Heminghaus, who is 48, was found guilty of statutory sodomy, sexual contact with a student and supplying liquor to a minor.

Court records say jurors recommended Thursday that Heminghaus receive two years for each of five counts involving sexual misconduct.

A judge set a sentencing hearing for Heminghaus on Aug. 20. The judge will decide whether the two-year sentences will be served at the same time or back-to-back.

Authorities say the incidents happened in 2005 and 2006 at Ferguson Middle School. Heminghaus was fired by the Special School District after the charges were announced.
