COLUMBIA — A woman caught in a sting operation prompted by ads for “adult personal services” pleaded guilty to prostitution charges Thursday morning.
Tiara D. Jones, 24, was arrested as part of an undercover police operation. She was sentenced to two years’ unsupervised probation and a suspended 30-day sentence.
Police conducted the operation by responding to ads on Craigslist and in the Columbia Daily Tribune. According to court records, the undercover officer arranged for two women to meet him at the Days Inn Hotel. Jones accompanied Ebonie Brooks, the woman police believe was featured in the ads, to the meeting place.
Police say the two women suspected the setup but decided to proceed anyway. After Jones removed her pants, the two were arrested.
Jones initially pleaded not guilty but changed her plea Thursday morning.
Brooks’ trial was postponed until later this summer.
Police arrested six people on prostitution charges in the operation. Jones’ is the only case so far to reach a conclusion.
