ST. LOUIS — A former St. Louis firefighter was sentenced after admitting to inappropriate contact with a child.

Eric Patt will serve a suspended five-year prison term and three years of supervised probation. He also must register as a convicted sex offender.

A statutory sodomy charge against the 41-year-old was dropped as a result of his guilty plea to first-degree child molestation.

Investigators said an 11-year-old girl told police she was awakened and fondled by Patt when she spent the night at his home as his wife’s guest. The girl reported it to family, who then notified police.

Patt was dismissed from the fire department in January 2007.
