SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Legendary game show host Bob Barker may have a Springfield street named for him.

City Council members will consider renaming a stretch of Brower Street to honor the retired host of “The Price is Right” TV game show. Barker is a 1947 graduate of Drury University and in February donated $1 million to establish a course on animal ethics at Drury.

Barker has been an advocate of animal rights and spaying-neutering, often using his game show to advance the cause.

Resident Kitty Lipscomb said she wanted the city to recognize Barker’s contributions to Springfield.

Records show Brower Street was named for John Robinson Brower, who moved to Missouri from North Carolina before the Civil War to set up a farm.
