COLUMBIA — No injuries and no significant damages were reported after a washing machine caught fire at the Bluffs nursing home Thursday evening, Interim Director Gary Sluyter said.

Sluyter said firefighters told him no flames had spread, and there was no smoke damage.

Several residents of the nursing home, located at 3105 Bluff Creek Drive, sat outside drinking water provided by staff as they waited to go back inside.

The Bluffs holds regular fire drills, Sluyter said. He added that the staff followed proper fire evacuation procedures.
