COLUMBIA — A barn at 9900 N. Creekland Drive sustained approximately $40,000 in damage after it caught fire early Friday morning.
A neighbor reported the fire at 1:30 a.m. after seeing flames coming from the barn.
Boone County Fire District Engine 501, located in Prathersville, responded to the alarm. Firefighters were on the scene more than three hours, extinguishing the flames in the barn owned by Brandon Salladay.
The fire has been ruled arson by both Boone County fire investigators and the Missouri state fire marshal’s office.
Unidentified trespassers used an ignitable liquid to start the fire on the north side of the barn, where machinery was housed.
The investigation is ongoing at this time. Anyone with information should call Crimestoppers at 875-TIPS.
