COLUMBIA — A northeast Columbia home was nearly burglarized early Thursday morning, but no residents were harmed and no items were missing.

Two people in the home, a 21-year-old female and 38-year-old male, heard a noise in their house, located in the 5500 block of Sandrock Drive, about 4:30 a.m. When one of them went to investigate, the person trying to enter the home fled.

The residents described the person as a 5-foot-3-inch black male with a slender build and short hair. Officers have been unable to find the suspect. He was last seen wearing a dark T-shirt, dark shorts and tennis shoes.
