Man threatened with gun during attempted robbery

COLUMBIA — A 27-year-old man was unharmed early Thursday morning after three men threatened the use of a gun in an attempted robbery in south Columbia.

About 3:10 a.m. the man was approached by three people in a car on Nifong Blvd, near Bethel St., a Columbia Police Department news release said. Two people exited the vehicle and demanded the man hand over his belongings and threatened to use a gun if he didn’t do so. The man immediately fled the scene.

The first suspect is described as a black male, 5-feet-10-inches, 170 pounds, wearing a black jacket, black bandana, black ball cap and sunglasses, the release said. The second suspect isdescribed as a 6-foot, black male, 180 pounds, wearing a dark jacket, black bandana, black ball cap and sunglasses, and the third suspect was not described.

The vehicle is described as a small, four-door maroon passenger car. The victim reported a possible gunshot as he was running from the area.
