COLUMBIA — Columbia police and the Boone County Sheriff’s Department are still looking for a suspect involved in a car pursuit that occurred early Saturday morning.

A caller reported a trespasser at Peppers Nightclub, 4515 N. Highway 763, at about 1:40 a.m. Saturday and said they believed the subject possibly had a gun and that shots were fired. The caller gave Boone County deputies a description of the vehicle the suspect was in and its direction of travel. Columbia police officers were in the area and pursued the vehicle for about four miles within the city. The suspect ran from the vehicle on the 300 block of Hirth, according to a news release. The vehicle was still in gear and ran up onto a curb, but didn’t damage any property.

Two passengers remained in the vehicle, one of whom was arrested by the Boone County Sheriff’s Department. Ray Redmond, 26, of Columbia, was arrested for a trespassing charge in connection with the incident at Peppers. The other passenger was released at the scene.

The suspect is described as having short black hair, a medium build and standing between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches and was last seen wearing a red T-shirt and jeans.
