COLUMBIA — Police are looking for two suspects they believe fled the scene of an armed robbery early Monday morning near Wilkes Boulevard, a Columbia Police Department news release said.

At 2:20 a.m., a 19-year-old Columbia man reported being robbed in the 700 block of Wilkes Boulevard.

According to the news release, the man said he had been riding his bicycle westbound on Wilkes when a man and woman called to him and asked for a cigarette. When the man stopped to give the other male a cigarette, the women told him to hand over all his money. The man was then hit over the head and knocked to the ground, and when he got up, the male suspect was pointing a gun at him. The man gave the two some of his property, and the suspects fled the scene going eastbound on Wilkes. The man was not injured during the incident.

The male suspect was described as a 6-foot, 1-inch-tall black man weighing about 200 pounds. He was approximately 40 years old with short hair and graying facial hair. He was last seen wearing a gray T-shirt, black pants and a black golf hat.

The female suspect was described as a 5-foot, 4-inch-tall black woman weighing about 250 to 270 pounds. She was approximately 35 to 40 years old with combed back, shoulder-length black hair. She was last seen wearing a gray T-shirt and red pants.
