JEFFERSON CITY - Independent presidential candidate Ralph Nader is making a bid to appear on Missouri's ballot.

Supporters of Nader turned in petition signatures Monday to get Nader and vice presidential running mate Matt Gonzalez on the November ballot. Nader's group says it collected twice as many signatures as required.

But it will be up to local election officials and the secretary of state's office to determine if Nader actually got enough signatures of registered voters.

Nader's campaign says Missouri is the 18th state where he has filed for a ballot spot this year.
