JEFFERSON CITY - Democratic lieutenant governor's candidate Sam Page has picked up the endorsements of three fellow Democrats who used to hold that office.

Page was promoting the endorsements Monday of former lieutenant governors Roger Wilson, Joe Maxwell and Kenneth Rothman.

Page is a physician and a state House of Representatives member from suburban St. Louis. He is one of six Democrats in a crowded Aug. 5 primary election. The winner is expected to face Republican Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder in the general election.

Although Page holds a large fundraising lead over his Democratic rivals, the lieutenant governor's campaign has kept a relatively low profile.

Page says the endorsements of all three living former Democratic lieutenant governors should demonstrate to primary voters that he is prepared to do the job.
