This story has been changed to reflect the correct day Franklin L. Rodgers' body was discovered, which was Saturday.

COLUMBIA - A 44-year-old man was found dead in the Broadway Village Apartments swimming pool at 10 p.m. Saturday, Columbia Police Capt. Brad Nelson said. The man has been identified as Franklin L. Rodgers.

Rodgers was "dressed appropriately to be swimming," Nelson said.

Nelson said that it appears the man drowned, however, the cause of death has not yet been determined.

An autopsy was scheduled to occur Monday at 10:30 a.m., however, the results are unlikely to be released until toxicology reports have been submitted for analysis, Nelson said.

Police, fire and medical personnel arrived at the scene after receiving a call from two residents of the complex who had gone to the pool for a late-night swim. After getting in the water they noticed a motionless male at the bottom of the pool. The deepest part of the pool - where Rodgers was found - is 6 feet.

Authorities gave the man CPR before transporting him to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
