KANSAS CITY - A detective testifies that a suburban Kansas City man on trial for the videotaped slaying of a woman told police he was a sex addict and wanted to kill himself.
The Kansas City Star reports on its Web site that Detective Chris Rapp testified Tuesday in the trial of 44-year-old Richard Davis of Independence. Prosecutors focused on Davis' confession to the crimes, while defense attorney Tom Jacquinot concentrated on statements that Davis made about being under pressure and "messed up."
Davis faces 40 felony counts, including capital murder, kidnapping and rape in the May 2006 death of 41-year-old Marsha Spicer of Independence. If convicted, he could face the death penalty.
Rapp also was on the witness stand all day Monday, with jurors watching hours of police interviews with Davis.
