Tarkio teacher, coach faces child molestation charges

 ROCK PORT — A northwest Missouri physical education teacher and coach is facing child molestation charges.

Atchison County authorities say Lee Rucker of Tarkio was arrested Sunday and charged with first-degree child molestation and sexual misconduct involving a child less than 14, both felonies. He's also charged with furnishing pornographic material to a minor, a misdemeanor.

Bond was set at $250,000 cash.

Rucker teaches physical education in the Tarkio R-1 School District, serves as athletic director and coaches girls' and boys' basketball at the middle school and high school levels.

Superintendent Linda Blum said Rucker has been employed by the district for two years. She said Rucker will remain on leave until the case is resolved.
