Man arrested in Moberly Drive shooting

COLUMBIA — A 33-year-old man was taken into custody on Friday night as the primary suspect in a shooting that occurred on Moberly Drive on Tuesday, according to a news release from the Booone County Sheriff's Department.

Following a voluntary interview, Lawrence Hayes of Columbia was booked on first-degree assault and armed criminal action charges, the release said. Hayes' bond was not set as of 11 p.m. Friday.

On Tuesday, gunshots were fired in the 7400 block of Moberly Drive, wounding 21-year-old Clyde Jones of Columbia in the leg. Jones was transported to University Hospital, where he was reported to be in good condition Wednesday. He has since been released.
