KANSAS CITY — Kansas City police say a bank ATM customer apparently took revenge on a man who tried to rob him.

Sgt. Chris Lantz told The Kansas City Star that the incident happened about 9 a.m. Saturday outside a Bank of America in northern Kansas City.

The robbery victims - an older man and woman - were using the ATM when a gunman approached them and took their money.

As the robber walked away, the man who was robbed got out of the car with a gun. Lantz says the man yelled for the robber to stop.

When the robber turned around and pointed his gun, the man opened fire and struck the robber in the head, police said.

The man was in stable condition.
