COLUMBIA - Two men were arrested Friday night on suspicion of stealing a vehicle. The Boone County Sheriff's Department received a report at about 8 p.m. that a vehicle had been stolen from the 3900 block of Locust Grove Church Road, a news release said.
The vehicle, a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado, was equipped with the OnStar system. Deputies began tracking the vehicle with the system and found it was operating in the Bon Gor Lake Estates area, located north of Columbia, the release said.
Deputies arrived in the area and noticed the vehicle at the intersection of Moberly Drive and Mauller Road.
Scottie Willet, 21, stopped the vehicle and surrendered himself to deputies, according to the release. Willet was being held in the Boone County Jail on a charge of first-degree tampering, according to a man who answered the phone at the jail. His bond was set at $4,500.
Kenneth Joe Spencer, 27, has been identified as a second suspect, according to the release. Spencer was taken into custody in the Prathersville area and was being held in the Boone County Jail. He was charged with first-degree tampering, according to the man who answered the phone at the jail, and also had two outstanding warrants. His total bond was set at $11,000.
