GREENVIEW - An Illinois woman was saved from drowning at the Lake of the Ozarks after her grandchildren pulled her to shore.

The Missouri State Water Patrol says 79-year-old Patricia Fitzgerald of Oak Lawn, Ill., was swimming with the help of a flotation device Monday. But the device fell off and she began to struggle in the water.

By the time her grandchildren reached her, she was unresponsive. They pulled her to shore and began performing CPR until Fitzgerald was able to breathe on her own.

She was flown to an area hospital for treatment.
