COLUMBIA — A 20-year-old woman was robbed at gunpoint early Wednesday morning near Sexton and Garth avenues, said Lt. Dianne Bernhard of the Columbia Police Department.
The woman and the assailant met at a small social gathering and left together in his car, Bernhard said. They were together for approximately 1½ hours before she asked to be taken home.
When they reached the woman's residence, the man grabbed her purse and ordered her out of the car at gunpoint. He then left the scene traveling east on Business Loop 70 West, Bernhard said.
Columbia police are searching for a man who is black, around 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs approximately 240 pounds.
The suspect was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, blue jean shorts and a black baseball cap. The woman also told police that the man had two gold front teeth and braided hair.
Anyone with information about the incident can submit an anonymous tip on the Crimestoppers Web site at 875tips.com and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,500 for information leading to an arrest.
