Mo. auditor’s son faces misdemeanor drug charges

ST. JOSEPH - The son of Missouri state Auditor Susan Montee is facing misdemeanor drug charges.

The St. Joseph News-Press reports that 19-year-old Austin Montee was arrested around 8 a.m. on Wednesday. A St. Joseph police spokesman says Montee and an 18-year-old woman were in a 2005 Honda.

Officers found marijuana and drug paraphernalia during a subsequent investigation. The woman was not charged and has not been identified.

Austin Montee has been issued municipal court summonses. He was released from the Buchanan County Jail after posting a $750 bond.

Susan Montee, a Democrat, was elected in 2006. A spokeswoman in the state auditor's office did not immediately return a call Friday seeking comment.
