COLUMBIA — MU School of Medicine Dean Bill Crist may be getting a new job. The University of Arizona Board of Regents will vote Thursday whether to approve the appointment of Crist as the vice president of Health Affairs at the university, according to George Humphrey at the University of Arizona Health Sciences Center.
Crist graduated from the MU School of Medicine in 1969. He became dean in 2000. Before becoming dean, Crist served as the chair of pediatric and adolescent medicine at the Mayo Medical School in Rochester, Minn. In addition, he led pediatric hematology and oncology teams at St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., as well as at the University of Alabama in Birmingham.
The vice president for Health Affairs is a newly created position at the University of Arizona. The university has a health science center in Tuscon but is also expanding the college of medicine in Phoenix, the Missourian reported in July.
