CAPE GIRARDEAU - Seven black employees of a Procter & Gamble plant in southeast Missouri's Cape Girardeau filed discrimination complaints that claimed nooses have been found inside the facility three times since 2006.
The complaints were filed with the Missouri Human Rights Commission. The management team at the plant contends only one noose was found - in January on a black employee's locker.
Plant manager Regina Gray said company officials determined one claim turned out to be a rope that held together pipes inside the building. She said another involved tied twine, the intent of which has not been determined.
Gray said officials are investigating. She said the management team does all it can to ensure worker safety and create a diverse atmosphere.
