COLUMBIA — The Columbia Parks and Recreation Department is holding a meeting Tuesday for residents of the Cascades subdivision and surrounding neighborhoods to discuss plans for a potential public park in the area.
Representatives from the department will present two preliminary concept plans for the park and hear comments from those in attendance.
One plan for the park includes a basketball half-court and small shelter, while the other features a picnic area and pedestrian bridge. Both plans incorporate a two-acre play area, nature trails and a playground. The meeting will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Cascades Clubhouse, 6700 Port Orchard Drive.

How exclusive and how far south from "the district" is this subdivision called the Cascades? What current program, service or swimming pool will the city threaten to close down next as we keep building in newer areas? What is to become of us? Stay tuned and find out.
