JEFFERSON CITY - Gov. Matt Blunt has picked a new circuit judge for Jackson County.

On Tuesday, Blunt named 51-year-old David Byrn as a circuit judge in the state's 16th Circuit.

Byrn is a partner at the Blue Springs law firm of Jeter, Rains & Byrn. He graduated from Graceland University and completed law school at MU. Byrn fills a vacancy that was created when Judge Thomas Clark resigned.

In a written statement, Blunt commended Byrn for a commitment to public service.
