All flags at state buildings will be flown at half-staff to honor Steven Fitzmorris of Columbia who was killed in action in Iraq.

The announcement by Gov. Matt Blunt is in accordance with a law that took effect on Aug. 28 that requires the flying of flags at half-staff for one day whenever a Missouri resident is killed while serving in the military, a news release from the governor's office said.
