Tigers third at volleyball invite

The Missouri volleyball team defeated St. John's on Saturday in its final match of an invitational at the University of Maryland in College Park, Md.

Missouri won 16-25, 28-26, 17-25, 29-27, 17-15 in a hard-fought match that featured 27 lead changes and 57 ties. Four Tigers had double-digit kills. Sophomore Julianna Klein led the team with 18, followed by junior Amanda Hantouli with 14. Junior Lauren Nuckolls scored a personal-best 12 kills, while junior Megan Wilson contributed 10. Sophomore Caitlyn Vann led the team in digs with 34.

Kentucky swept MU 25-21, 25-15, 25-23 in straight sets Saturday morning, which put Missouri at 2-1 for the tournament with two other teams. The Tigers finished in third place after a tiebreaker. Kentucky won with a plus-4 set margin. St. Johns finished second with a plus-2 set margin. The Tigers had a plus-1 set margin. Klein was named to the all-tournament team.
