COLUMBIA — Columbia residents will now be able to pay traffic tickets any time via phone or Internet through services provided by TrafficPayment.com, according to a City of Columbia news release.

To pay a fine, visit the site at trafficpayment.com. A map of the United States will appear. Click on Missouri and the Web site will provide a list of cities to choose from. Pick the "City of Columbia" link, which will lead to the "Make a Payment" page. Type the name on the traffic citation, the ticket number and the amount of the fine. Click "I Agree" to submit the payment.

The Web site will charge an additional fee of $6.95, not connected to the city's original citation, which will be kept by TrafficPayment.com for services rendered, according to the press release.

Citations can also be paid over the phone by calling 1-800-444-1187, the press release stated. TrafficPayment.com also operates the phone payment line.

TrafficPayment.com, which works from its headquarters in Addison, Texas, allows schools and city governments to use its phone and Internet bill pay services without an extra charge to the organization.
