ST. LOUIS - The Pentagon says a 22-year-old St. Louis soldier has been killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan.

Army Private Vincent Winston died Thursday after a bomb exploded near the Humvee he and four other troops were riding in. His mother, Angie Little, said her son enlisted in the Army two years ago and was about two months into his first tour of duty in Afghanistan.

Winston was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division at Fort Hood, Texas.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
