PINEVILLE — A former southwest Missouri woman, from Anderson, will be tried on an amended murder charge that she failed to provide adequate medical treatment for her daughter.

Karen Davenport of Rogers, Ark., waived a preliminary hearing on the amended charge of felony murder Tuesday in the January 2005 death of 6-year-old Hannah Davenport. The girl died of malnutrition and dehydration at her Anderson home.

Davenport was scheduled for trial Tuesday on second-degree murder charges, but the prosecutor asked that the case return to McDonald County so the amended charge could be filed. Davenport is still charged with second-degree murder.

Felony murder is charged when death occurs during another felony, in this case child abuse.

The girl's grandmother, 53-year-old Linda Walsham of Neosho, is charged with second-degree murder in the child's death.
