CAPE GIRARDEAU - Authorities said someone stole a fire truck from a district station north of the Cape Girardeau city limits.
The vehicle later was found abandoned on a street. No arrests have been made. Also stolen were two radios, an ax, two masks and a walkie-talkie.
The fire truck was one of three housed at the East County Fire Protection District station.
Fire Chief Dwayne Kirchhoff said he found the fire station's metal wall pried open and a pickup truck with blood on its door handles parked in the lot.
There was also blood found inside the fire station, Kirchoff said.
The investigation continues.
