Deputy kills southeast Missouri man who threatened the officer with a loaded rifle

STRAFFORD — A Webster County sheriff's deputy shot and killed a man during a disturbance in southwest Missouri.

The sheriff's department said 44-year-old Richard Parker pointed a loaded rifle at the officer Saturday and threatened to kill him several times. The officer fired one shot at Parker killing him.

The deputy was responding to a disturbance call when Parker came out of the house with the gun.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol was expected to investigate.
