KIRKSVILLE — The president of Truman University, Barbara Dixon, has resigned after five years leading the school.
Dixon's resignation will be effective Oct. 15.
The resignation was announced Tuesday in a joint letter from Dixon and Mark Wasinger, chairman of the Truman State University Board of Governors.
The letter says that Dixon and the board determined that they could not agree on goals and expectations for the future.
Dixon says she believes it is in everyone's best interest that she resign. Wasinger praised her, saying the university had grown in significant ways under Dixon's leadership.
The board is expected to appoint an interim president soon and then begin a search for Dixon's replacement.
