LOUISIANA, Mo. — Police are searching for a 36-year-old man, whom they would not call a suspect, in the beating death of a northeast Missouri man.
Louisiana officers responded Monday night to a report of a fight in an alley and discovered 42-year-old Richard Marshall. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Police Chief James Graham declined to confirm reports that Marshall was beaten with a baseball bat but said neither a gun nor a knife was used.
The man police are seeking was reportedly driven to the St. Louis area after the altercation.
The motive for the beating was not immediately known.
The killing was the first in Louisiana in more than four years.
