COLUMBIA - MU police officers arrested three men Saturday in connection with the Sept. 17 robbing of an MU student on campus. Demetrius O. Edwards, 18, Stafford D. Lambert, 19, and Michael J. Zellmann, 21, will face second-degree robbery charges.

A combination of tips from the community, assistance from the Columbia Police Department and "good police work" made the arrests possible, said Capt. Brian Weimer, who indicated that the three arrests were made at different times.

Additional details of the arrests are being withheld pending the conclusion of the investigation.

Shortly after midnight on Sept. 17, a 21-year-old male student was attacked and robbed by three men between Engineering Building East and Switzler Hall, according to previous police reports. The victim told police that he was pulled to the ground and kicked before having his wallet and cell phone stolen.

The victim was not injured and refused medical attention, according to previous reports.

MU police sent a mass e-mail on Sept. 17 to alert the campus community about the incident.

Anyone with additional information regarding the crime can contact Detective Vernon Gerling at 884-2605 or CrimeStoppers at 875-8477.
