PrintCENTRALIA — Dogs and horses.
"Story of my life," Kim Sorensen says as she clips the hair of Carmella, a beige and white cocker spaniel, on Sept. 9. Sorensen, 20, balances her life between riding her horses and keeping up with her dog grooming business, The Hair Wrangler, located off Missouri 124 between Hallsville and Centralia.
"Horses are my sanity," Sorensen says. "If I don't ride, I get grumpy."
The sounds of clippers, puppies panting and country music fill Sorensen's grooming business, which is within a few hundred feet of both her home and her horse riding arena.
After spending her afternoon as "The Hair Wrangler," Sorensen spends the evening saddling up a couple of her horses and taking a ride. While Wiesel, her horse, trots around with Sorensen, her dog Skid chases behind.
"She prances around at the bottom," Sorensen says. "I called her up one day, and she rides with me."
