KANSAS CITY — A southwest Missouri man accused of shooting at officers and wounding two has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison on a charge of illegally possessing firearms.
The Joplin Globe reports that 21-year-old Adam Bridgewater of Neosho still faces charges in Newton and McDonald counties from the March 2007 shooting.
The weapons triggering the federal charge in Kansas City were found after Bridgewater was taken into custody for allegedly shooting at officers during a traffic stop and pursuit. Two Neosho police officers were wounded.
Newton County Prosecutor Jacob Skouby said Bridgewater is expected to enter a plea in that county on Wednesday. A hearing has not been set for the McDonald County charges.
