PrintCOLUMBIA — A knife assault occurred on the 4400 block of Ria Street off Clark Lane early Sunday morning, according to a news release from the Columbia Police Department. Two victims, a 22-year-old male from Columbia and a 19-year-old female from Clinton, were taken to the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.
A woman arrived at the male victim's house around 1:30 a.m., the release said; the man was her ex-boyfriend. The woman got into an argument with the female victim, who was also at the house, and then got a knife from the kitchen and began making threats, the release said.
The woman stabbed the female victim in the chest and cut her hair with the knife, the release said, and the male victim was stabbed when he tried to take the weapon from the suspect. The woman fled the scene, police said.
Anyone with information can submit a tip to the CrimeStoppers web site, 875tips.com. People giving information can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,500 if the information leads to an arrest.

What is with the people of this city as of late?
good question!
I mean this crime wave all over this city is just worse than we have ever seen. What are the contributing factors in all of this? Is it people moving here from other cities bringing their crimes with them? Is it young kids doing it for kicks? Is it all drug related or inspired? Just what is the common denominator to this crime wave?
I am not trying to stereotype citizens here but as I read over all of the reports almost all of the suspects are young black males which leads me to think of those moving here from other bigger communities for the easy "soft targets" they might find here in Columbia.
One thing is for sure is that we need as citizens to help our police and sheriff's departments in any way that we can to help curb all of this crime wave before citizens do get seriously hurt.
Could the Neo Nazis stick around to help fix this? Not like the cops are doing anything to stop the crimes.
This particular event was an act of domestic violence - but still a violent crime. The police have their hands full - that's for sure. Has anyone ever heard our Mayor, city council members, police, etc. ever admit to gang violence in Columbia or are they still playing emperor's clothes? Having KC and STL being this close to Columbia has its advantages but not in the case of drug-related activity. Also, as our economy continues its slump, crimes such as burglaries, robberies, assaults and murders seem to be escalating. This is not the Columbia I first lived in 38 years ago.
